CLAN partnerships

University of Melbourne

In April 2009 CLAN organised an Artist in-Residence Program with the Language and Literacy Department, University of Melbourne, involving an established Australian Children's book illustrator working with tertiary students.

City of Stonnington

In 2009 this partnership involved CLAN and the Literature Live Program organised by Peter Redden and Annette Forde from the City of Stonnington and Jeff Prentice, Albert Ullin and Mike Wilson from NEEF Australia. Over two weeks (April 28 to May 8) the following activities occurred with community involvement from libraries, children and parents:

  • Launch of the Literature Live Program at the Malvern Library
  • Children's Literature: An Exhibition of Posters, Prints and Originals
  • Artist in Residence
  • Maurice Saxby Mentorship Program
  • Prahran Market Day – The public interacting with children's authors and illustrators
  • Visits to local Libraries by Schools

Alola Foundation

In 2008 NEEF Australia, in conjunction with the Alola Foundation, published Whoever You Are by Mem Fox translated into the Tetum language – the first international children's book to be translated for the children of Timor-Leste.

Following on from the publication of Whoever You Are by Mem Fox translated into the Tetum language and launched in Dili in January 2009, NEEF Australia is currently planning more children's books for children in Timor-Leste founded on oral tradition stories.
